Setting Up Shop in the Online Market Place

Posted on April 25, 2018 in Uncategorized

When we open a store in the physical world, very rarely do we look to place that store outside of a shopping mall or public thoroughfare, we look for shopping malls, public foot traffic and community meeting places to gain the most exposure for our products. Why then when we open our store online would we think any different. People might argue that search engines are our shopping malls but search engines are our world not places to direct us to buy things. The traditional search engines clutter us with information rather than offer us a merchant that is selling what we want or allow us to have a neat organised and enjoyable shopping experience, No for this we as customers demand and have proven to crave online marketplaces.

What all online markets have in common is that they allow a business to easily sign up and sell their goods to the massive audience of shoppers these platforms offer, rather than the business relying on their own marketing and card handing out efforts to help potential customers find their stores.

Its really a matter of power through numbers. A small spend with these market platforms by many sellers gives them the a very large marketing budget that they can use to draw people to their site in the same way that a shopping mall pulls in foot traffic. As a store in these online malls you then stand to benefit not only from the reputation of the site but also from the other sellers on the site. It only takes a handful of very popular sellers on the site to fulfill the role of anchor tenants pulling traffic past all the line stores so no matter what you are selling your chance of being found is better than it ever was when you were solo in the wilderness of the internet.

The more places you sign your business up to the more exposure you will get. Obvious? Yes it is! but if you sign up to a couple of these sites, perhaps all of them, you will really get your name out there in a big way you may be able to start the viral spread of your products and be able to take you business to the next level.

So rather than wasting your money and energy developing a massive site to sell your products on, sign up to multiple marketplace sites, its the place to be!

Creative Memory – Use Your Imagination to Remember a Shopping List

Posted on April 17, 2018 in Uncategorized

In my article “Word Games – Dazzle Your Friends With This Mind Game”, I explained the system of using memory pictures to count. You may use whatever pictures you want for your list. Here is mine. One Run. 2 Zoo. 3 Tree. 4 Door. 5 Hive. 6 Sick. 7 Heaven. 8 Gate. 9 Mine. The list keeps going through the teens until you have a photo in your head for each number. When you get to twenty you might do as I do and use plenty for 20. Plenty run will be a whole bunch instead of one horse running in the glue. The street is filled with thousand of white horses all stuck in the glue and trying to get free.

Soon you will be able to count this way. Run, zoo, tree, door, hive, sick, heaven, gate, mine, den, elephant, shelve, hurting, sorting, lifting, sickening, leavening, waiting, dining, plenty, plenty run, plenty zoo, plenty tree etc.

It takes some practice to become efficient in remembering these photos but that is what you must do. Repeat it a few times thinking of the scene for each number until you can do it as fast as you can count normally.

So how will you use the system? If you want to remember a list of articles it is simple. Item one. A quart of milk. Think of the horses running down the street in the glue and a gigantic quart of milk is pouring onto the horse from a big quart bottle. Item number two. Pick up the dry cleaning. Think of the pink elephant in the zoo holding up your dress and tearing it apart. With every item from the list you want to place the item into the picture and make it appear as messy as possible. The wilder the photo, the easier it is to remember.

This may be a strange way to improve your memory but I can attest to it working every time. I have used it for forty years. Give it a chance and have fun with it.

From Flower Girl Dresses to Farm Foods – Earth Friendly Wedding Shopping

Posted on April 11, 2018 in Uncategorized

If you are planning a wedding you may start to worry about the Earth friendliness of such events. After all, you have probably been using a lot of different papers that are not usually recycled (or made from recycled materials), and you are probably well aware of the many resources about to be consumed in everything from your bridal shower right through to the breakfast on the morning after the wedding celebration. A single reception can see a huge amount of food waste as well as the creation of full dumpsters of garbage. This is the less pleasant side of weddings and all of their associated activities, but even with tiny steps a couple can dramatically reduce the amount of waste produced by their special event.

As an example, if the couple makes a regular habit of recycling and practice energy conservation, they may find it more difficult to exercise the same control over the wedding events. But through research and effort they can make “greener” shopping choices as much as possible. For example, consider the different places that a bride can look for wedding gowns. If she has decided to purchase flower girl dresses online (which many brides will opt to do) she can begin reducing the effects of the wedding by choosing a company with some green policies.

For instance, concerned online retailers may provide a “green promise” that indicates how they use packing materials that are made from 100% recycled materials – including tissue paper and packing boxes. The same group also indicates that the fabric treatments or cleaners used on the garments they sell are also as Earth friendly as possible too. This green promise means the retailer operates daily with concern for the environment as part of business policy. However, consider that some estimates suggest nearly sixty percent of waste in landfills could be discarded clothing. What happens to the bridal attire, the ring bearer suit and the flower girl dress after the wedding? To reduce the chance of these treasures becoming mere trash, look for wedding attire that is multi-functional and can be passed to a new owner or even worn for other occasions.

Many brides and grooms are concerned about the environmental impact of their wedding and make every imaginable effort to find methods of reducing waste or reusing purchased items. Remember to seek vendors of flower girl dresses and wedding party attire with options for both simple and fancier garments. These dresses and suits will be versatile and can be worn again for other events. They might explain that a plainer dress made from cotton materials could be easily dyed and worn again, or the same site might give a helpful article or two about ways to recycle dresses through such activities as tea parties, dress up kits, plays, Halloween activities, and more.

Here are some more tips for planning an eco-friendly wedding:

1.) Plan for meals and desserts to be served on real dishes. Most caterers and hotel services will provide beautiful dishware that is always washed for re-use.
2.) Opt for paper products made from recycled fibers that can also be re-recycled. Think of this when ordering wedding invitations, thank-you notes, and programs.
3.) Consider having the ceremony at a park or wilderness preserve if you wish for a natural setting. This will contribute funds to help maintain a place of natural beauty and perhaps even inspire some guests to contribute.
4.) Request gift cards or donations to a favorite environmental organization as wedding gifts. Gift cards will not require elaborate packaging and most likely will not be discarded or wasted.
5.) Attempt to use locally grown food sources at your reception, less fossil fuels are consumed to bring the fare to your event.
6.) Look for locally grown wildflowers as well, for the same reason of reducing fossil fuels, and also to showcase the natural beauty of your own area. Consider decorating with potted plants and flowers when possible, they can be donated to the hosting place of worship or wedding attendants and guests after the ceremony.

Remember, too, that your best effort to conserve is a vast improvement over having never bothered to consider the environmental impact of your very special day. Living green is a learning process and a lifestyle choice, so practice makes perfect. And weddings are always a beautiful beginning for everything perfect.
